Pottery at Arc Centre and Gallery
Pottery Classes in Manchester
We have launched a programme of creative pottery classes in Manchester at our centre in Stockport. Funds raised from workshops support our charitable aims to facilitate creative programmes for vulnerable adults and young people experiencing mental health issues.
We regularly run 6-Week Pottery Classes – Following a sell-out course in January 2019, we are offering more courses to explore a range of pottery skills over 6x 2 hour sessions with tutor Sharon Giles. Develop hand-building techniques such as thumb pots, coiling, slab building and decoration, Sharon will support you with your own ideas – if you have previously attended a course she will ensure that your pottery skills continue to grow! Just £90 for a course.
Can’t commit to a course? Why not try one-off pottery classes to make a product or decorative piece, for example:
Make a Ceramic Flower Vase Wall Plaque – £35 – Learn how to roll, mould and decorate clay to create a pottery wall plaque in the shape of a vase of colourful flowers with Arc potters, Louise & Sharon. Your work will be fired at Arc following the workshop.
We run monthly drop-in Saturday Art Clubs Jan-Nov (excluding August) 11:00-15:30 on the last Saturday of every month, and some of the activities include Ceramics. Follow us on Facebook to keep up-to-date!
Family Ceramics – £10 – Join us for fun 1 hour sessions to make various things from clay with our pottery team, which will be fired at Arc following the workshop. Suitable for beginners aged 5 and over (adults welcome too!) Price includes all materials and firing.
As part of Hey Clay! 2019, a national cerlebration of clay that provides the opportunity for people to visit pottery places across the country and unleash their inner potter – we invite you for a FREE drop-in and play session! Our theme is ‘A Pottery Tea Party’, and our ceramics team will be on hand to help you shape cakes, sandwiched, pies, teapots – anything you think should be at a tea party… even a teddy bear! Then you will be welcome to take your set home with you when you’re finished.
Please see all the workshop details and our booking and refund / cancellation policy on this page. If you would like to receive an email when our new classes go live, you can sign up for the Public Creative Workshops mailing list here.
