Together Again – Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery Exhibition Call Out

Lockdown through the eyes of Stockport’s Artists, Makers & Dreamers

UPDATE: Submissions are now closed. Thank you for the amazing volume of submissions for our call out for our exhibition at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery in September! We’re in the process of working through them and expect to get back to you week commencing August 2nd. We’re so pleased there has been such positive interest in the exhibition, Stockport is a very creative town! Thanks again, The Arc Team.

The past year has been a challenging one, as we have all altered, adjusted and adapted to our new reality. However during this time the impact and effectiveness of creativity on mental health has never been more widely acknowledged and publicly evidenced. People had the time and opportunity to be creative, to try something new, or pick up old skills and lost passions. More people than ever have taken part in creative activities which have:

  • benefitted their overall mental health and wellbeing, helped people be resilient
  • provided essential space and tools to reflect on and express experiences
  • created solace and a calm environment in which to mitigate and cope with increased stress in many areas of our lives
  • helped people to connect with each other and to feel part of something communal

Together Again’, is going to be a large scale exhibition at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery, showcasing and celebrating this creativity. The exhibition will feature the work of individual artists and studios, collectives and community groups and provide an opportunity for Stockport to come Together, Again, through our shared experience. It will provide a springboard into further connection and creativity with the wide variety of artists, groups and projects running across Stockport.
