During February 2018 Half Term I worked as facilitator for the “Animal Antics” public workshops at Arc. We ran several hour-long sessions throughout the day, during which participants created their very own clay animal using a pinch pot as a starting point.
It was brilliant fun seeing everybody’s ideas and final creations, from fish to dragons with a couple of elephants and octopi along the way!

The 3D creatures were decorated with coloured slips by the participants before a week or so of careful drying, followed by bisque firing and a final glaze firing. There were a couple of injured animals along the way which is inevitable with ceramics, but disappointing all the same. However, most creations survived the kiln intact and beautiful, ready to be collected at the brilliant Saturday Art Club!
