My Lockdown Story Stockport Miniature Book Project
This course has now ended but you can buy our digital pack leading you through creating your own at home here!
Write your lockdown story!
’My Lockdown Story’ is a project inviting anyone who lives, studies, works or has a connection to Stockport to document your experience of lockdown through creativity. Exploring simple creative writing and mixed media arts techniques such as collage and drawing to produce a lovely miniature hardback concertina book, artist Alison Waters will guide you through telling the story of your year, framed by lockdown. We hope that they will be a thoughtful, beautiful and tangible product of your experience, a focused opportunity to favour creation over rumination, and to connect with others. Your story will be yours, whatever it may be, however the sessions will inspire a positive focus and invite you to pull on strings of hope…
Did you discover something new? Explore a new place? Grow in some way or realise something? Did you support others? Did your artistic practice develop?
The project consists of:
- A course of 4x online sessions with the artist
- An online exhibition of all the documented participant books during summer 2021. Any practicing artists, groups or businesses, we will endeavour to share your work.
- A large-scale collaborative exhibition commemorating our experiences of lockdown & looking forward at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery in collaboration with The Doll’s House Art Gallery.
