Pottery Classes in Manchester

We run public programmes of creative pottery classes in Manchester at our centre in Hat Works in central Stockport. Funds raised from workshops support our charitable aims to facilitate creative programmes for vulnerable adults and young people experiencing mental health issues.

We regularly run beginner and intermediate Pottery Classes, exploring a range of pottery skills over several sessions with a tutor developing hand-building techniques such as thumb pots, coiling, slab building and decoration and supporting you with your own ideas – if you have previously attended a course tutors will ensure that your skills continue to grow!

Can’t commit to a course? Why not try one-off pottery classes to make a product or decorative piece, for example: Throwing on the Potter’s Wheel, Pottery Pets, Plant Pots and Fish Plaques!

We run monthly drop-in Saturday Art Clubs on the last Saturday of every month Jan-Nov (excluding August), and some of the activities include Ceramics. Follow us on Facebook to keep up-to-date!

Family Ceramics – join us for sessions making or painting various fun ceramics things with our pottery team, which will be fired at Arc following the workshop. Suitable for beginners aged 5 and over (adults welcome too!)

Visit the main workshops page to see all our art classes in Manchester that are currently bookable with all the workshop details and our booking and refund / cancellation policy. If you would like to receive an email when our new classes go live, you can sign up for the Public Creative Workshops mailing list here. Thanks to Awards For All funding, Arc was able to run the ‘Pottery Pioneers‘ project which ended with an exhibition in the gallery celebrating the volunteers, upskilling, products, workshops and wellbeing programmes run throughout the project’s duration and we look forward to developing more projects and exhibitions in the future through projects, guest artists and by participants of our wellbeing programmes.
