Arc recently facilitated a major arts engagement project as part of the Barnaby Festival in Macclesfield. Over 350 people of all ages visited our portable arts space, the Dome, over 2 days and wrote love letters to the town. A local primary school also took part writing 90 letters in the run up to the Festival. It was an opportunity for people to share their personal stories of love, heartbreak, special moments, and significant places. To thank and celebrate the town. A simple, accessible and extremely successful project – we now have a communal Love Letter to Macc from its people, which will be presented in various formats in high profile locations over the coming months.
“Love Letter to Macc really captured the imagination of festival-goers at Barnaby 2016. Everyone I spoke to seemed to have written a letter – a simple sentence perhaps, a thought, a remembrance, but something special. It was incredibly uplifting and such a simple but effective community action. How often do we get the opportunity to express our feelings about a place, and to share them? It was just lovely to see the wide range of people taking part and to witness the positive effect it had on everyone.” Fiona Bailey
