Description
Beautifully detailed, hand-stitched textile piece, orange with red and blue flowers and green leaves. Decorative beads and shells to ends. Suitable for use as a wall hanging or bed runner. 152 x 29cm.
The unique pieces in our Indian Summer textiles range showcase a type of Indian embroidery called Kantha, which involves stitching on saris to recycle them as usable items like quilts, hangings and cushions, alongside other pieces of highly detailed embroidery.
Made by a group of women from Paddyfield School in the village of Bonhoogly, to the south of Kolkata in West Bengal, India, the pieces are born from Arc’s many years’ relationship with and support for groups that promote women artisans in India. Each item was purchased from the women directly and we are delighted to bring them to our audience.
